Concorde

Breeding: Voltaire x Flyer

Height: 16.2 h.h / 169 cms

Concorde comes from very strong jumping lines on both sides of his pedigree. Known in jumping circles as Olympic Concorde, he is by the impressive dominant breeding stallion Voltaire, who via his sire Furioso II and Gotthard is bred to perform.

Voltaire was the number 2 in the World Breeding Rankings for Showjumping Sires in 1996 and through the performances of his offspring stands very high in both the dressage and jumping indexes. Due to his high ranking position, Voltaire was given the "keur" and "preferent" predicates at a very early age.

Concorde's dam, the ‘prestatie’ mare Flyer, is by the legendary Marco Polo, one of the most influential Dutch stallions in breeding and jumping mares with representatives such as Irco Polo, Pybalia, Marius, Orpheus, Mr LA, Pierrot and Recruut. Flyer herself is related to the international jumper Vivaldi, who under Melanie Smith, was speed horse of the Year in 1980. Flyer also produced at least 6 (inter)national jumpers.

Concorde is one of the youngest ‘preferent’ stallions in the KWPN and has become known world wide for his own performances as an international showjumper with Jos Lansink. They won the Grand Prix of Nordrhein-Westfalen at Aken, became Champions of the Netherlands in 1994, were placed 2nd in the Grand Prix of Amsterdam, 2nd in Darmstadt, 2nd in Lanaken, 2nd in Helsinki and 2nd in Gothenburg.

Concorde has proved himself as one of the world’s best showjumper progenitors. For many years he has reliably led the jumping index and more recently has achieved the status as sire with the most offspring at the World Breeding Championships for young horses. In 2001 Concorde proved himself to be an absolute top sire of international sport horses. As many as 17 horses achieved Grand Prix (1.60m) level including Audi's Jikke, Kathja, Conquest II, Larino, Viktor and Isabella. In the Grand Prix of Rotterdam 3 from the top 8 horses were by Concorde and at the international horse show of Maastricht he had 11 offspring in the international finals!

In jumping Concorde’s offspring are characterised by their take-off, quality and manners.
